Residents demand action to stop illegal waste recycling and importation of e-waste

FOR years, residents of Kuala Langat, Klang and Hulu Selango, including Banting, Jenjarom, Sijangkang, Olak Lempit, Telok Panglima Garang, Pulau Carey, Meru, Kapar, and Rasa, have suffered the ill-effects of pollution emanating from illegal waste processing factories and dumpsites.

Many waste processing factories, including those recycling electronic waste (e-waste), operate near our residential areas. Residents have raised their concerns about these illegal activities repeatedly since 2019, but the factories continued to operate. It was only recently that enforcement actions were undertaken by the authorities.
