PETALING JAYA: The bewildered look on Kelantan United interim manager Nazrulerwan Makmor’s face said it all.
The former player was left stunned after watching his side get thrashed 1-7 by Selangor in a rain soaked Super League match on Wednesday.
Nazrulerwan wants the rot to stop and has called on the management to address the heavy defeat in their own backyard at the Sultan Mohamad IV Stadium by dropping their foreign players.
“We had never lost by seven goals during my playing career. It is too big a defeat and I am stunned,” said Nazrulerwan.
“I can honestly say that the foreign players are not helping at all.
“I hope the management can change the foreign players as soon as possible as I see that they are not functioning on the field. They have disrupted the team’s tactics.
“In football, you have to get up even when you are down.
“The players have to follow the instructions, but it seems that my players, especially the imports, do not follow the instructions.
“They have not shown good commitment. I hope the management will find substitutes for these imports, especially for the midfield and attack as soon as possible. I hope to find players with quality, who can help the team because I believe we can finish in a good position.
“But if we don’t change, then we won’t go anywhere,” he said.
In the match, Selangor were aggressive from the start and had looked determined to bounce back from their 0-1 defeat to minnows Police last week.
And the Red Giants never took their foot off the pedal as their Colombian hitman Ayron Del Valle pulled off a hattrick with goals in the 10th, 45th and 79th minutes while the other goals came through Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi (fourth), Faisal Halim (29th), Yohandry Orozco (51st), and Aliff Izwan Yuslan (78th).
Kelantan got a consolation goal through Brazilian Devid De Santana Silva from the penalty spot in the 75th minutes after he was brought down inside the box.
The win strengthened Selangor’s second spot in the 14-team standings with 10 wins, one draw and three losses.
Kelantan United’s loss was their 10th in the Super League and they are in the second-lowest position with only six points from one win and three draws after 14 matches.
