Beastly luck for archers in City of Angels

Poor form: Malaysia’s Khairul Anuar Mohamad (right) in action during the recurve team final yesterday.

AFTER one decade, luck deserted the archers in the City of Angels. And long-time coach Lee Hae-jyung was dumbstruck as the recurve archers failed to bring back the men’s team gold medal for the first time since 2009.

Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Haziq Kamaruddin and Mohd Zarif Syahir Zolkepli suffered the agony of settling for silver after losing in a sudden death shoot-off in the final at Angeles Field yesterday. The Malaysian trio were tied with Indonesia at 4-4 after four sets and had to go to a single arrow shoot-off to determine the gold.
