Malaysia men’s team win compound bronze medal


HANGZHOU: The Malaysian men’s compound archery team won bronze at the Asian Games, retaining the medal they won in 2018.

The trio of Juwaidi Mazuki, Alang Ariff Aqil Mohd Ghaz and Mohd Syafiq Mohd Ariffin beat the Taiwan team comprising Chang Cheng Wei, Chen Chieh Lun and Yang Cheng Jui 228-208 in the bronze medal playoff at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre on Oct 5 (Thursday).

The Malaysians lost to South Korea 232-230 in the semi-final. In the quarter-final, which also happened on Thursday, they beat Iran 227-221.

In the last Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang, the Malaysian team, which comprised Juwaidi, Alang and Lee Kin Lip, won the compound bronze medal, beating Taiwan 225-223.

The bronze from archery is Malaysia’s 25th medal in the Asian Games.
