It's over: Women's recurve archers Nurul Azreena Fazil (left), Ariana Nur Dania Mohd Zairi and Syaqiera Mashayikh lose in the last 16 of the team event.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's campaign in the women's recurve team event ended early at Les Invalides on Sunday.

The trio of Syaqiera Mashayikh, Ariana Nur Dania Mohd Zairi and Nurul Azreena Mohamad Fazi fell 3-5 to Indonesia's Rezza Octavia, Syifa Nurafifah Kamal and Diananda Choirunisa in the round of 16.

Indonesia will go on to play Hangzhou Asian Games silver medallist China in the quarter-finals later in the day.

Syaqiera, Ariana and Azreena, who are the first three Malaysian archers to feature in the Olympic team event, will now focus on the women's recurve individual event taking place on Tuesday.
