SPRINTER Russell Alexander Nasir Taib braved the cold and gusty wind to qualify for the men’s 200m semi-finals in the Commonwealth Games.

Competing in heat two, the 24-year-old got off from the starting block with a powerful start and went on toe-to-toe with Kenya’s Dan Asamba towards the bend but eventually settled at the second spot with a time of 20.76 seconds at the Alexander Stadium.
