Unbelievable Umar wins and breaks long-standing national record

Spectacular feat: Umar Osman in action during the 400m men’s final.

UMAR Osman arrived in Phnom Penh as a virtual unknown – but he tore the form book to shreds in spectacular fashion to win the men’s 400m gold at the Morodok Techo National Stadium yesterday.

It was such a perfect run that Umar himself was left stunned. The runner, making his debut in the big stage, broke into tears when he found out that his time of 46.34s was good enough to smash the long-standing national record of 46.41 held by Mohd Zaiful Zainal Abidin.
