Poor baton change cost Azeem and Co dearly in relay final

Agony: Jonathan Nyepa did not have a good baton change with new inclusion Mohd Taqiaf Hisham.

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Azeem Fahmi was not able to inspire Malaysia to a podium finish as poor baton change saw them finish sixth in the men’s 4x100m relay final of the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok yesterday.

Azeem ran a fine anchor leg but the baton change between Jonathan Nyepa and new inclusion Mohd Taqiaf Hisham wasn’t smooth as the Malaysian quartet only managed to register 39.17s.
