PETALING JAYA: National sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi (pic) debut in the World Championships did not take off as he had wished after he faltered in the heats.

Bidding to become the first Malaysian to qualify for the 100m semi-finals, the 19-year-old only managed to finish seventh in heat four with a time of 10.26s, which is 0.02s slower than his sprint in the preliminary round, at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, yesterday.
