KUCHING: A slight drizzle did not deter the spirit of Terengganu hurdler Mohd Armin Zahryl from winning the boys’ 110m hurdles gold in the Malaysia Games (Sukma).
The 19-year-old kept his cool on the wet track to clock 14.26s at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya on Tuesday (Aug 20).
Federal Territories’ Mohd Fiross Mohd Faizal took silver with a time of 14.51s while Johor’s Mohd Hazriq Cik Mat posted 14.57s to bag the bronze.
In the girls‘ 100m hurdles, Selangor’s Lie Yee Teng, 20, shined in her first Games by racing to the gold in 14.28s.
Silver went to Johor’s Nur Shaqirah Cik Mat (14.87s) while Perak’s Farah Syakira Azifsa took bronze (14.97s).
In the boys’ 10,000m final, Federal Territories long-distance runner Kristian Tung emerged as the champion with a time of 33:48.049.
Perak’s Mohd Farooq Mohd Zubair Kanan took the silver with a time of 33:56.008, while Sabah’s Nikos Tai Lee Onn bagged the bronze by setting a time of 33:56.010.
In the girls’ long jump, Johor’s Nurkhaleesa Yasmin Awang won the event by jumping a distance of 5.76m.
Kelantan’s Alia Batrisyia Nasaruddin and Sarawak’s Marzita Ferrer Neil Armstrong came in second (5.73m) and third (5.61m) respectively.
