PETALING JAYA: Datuk Abdul Latif Romly’s bid for his third straight Paralympics gold medal in the Long Jump T20 (Learning disability) category has been scuppered.

The 27-year-old from Perlis bagged the silver medal with a jump of 7.45m.

This was his season best, but it was not enough to win the gold.

Russia’s Matvei Iakushev - competing under the Neutral Paralympics Athletes (NPA) banner -took the gold with a jump of 7.51m, while Colombia’s Jhon Obando Asprilla took bronze with a jump of 7.38m.

Previously, Latif won the gold medal in the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
