Boys lose the fight


End of the road: Mohd Shaqeem Eiman Syahyar fought tooth and nail against Yonathan Ramlie of Indonesia in the quarter-finals of the World Junior Championships, but he ended up losing 16-21,21-17,19-21.

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Shaqeem Eiman Shahyar and Wyman Goh fell short in their bids to secure a medal in the boys’ singles event at the World Junior Championships.In Kazan yesterday, Shaqeem fought gallantly for 64 minutes before going down 16-21,21-17,19-21 to Yonathan Ramlie of Indonesia in the quarter-finals, while Wyman had to concede a walkover after aggravating his back injury.

Wyman was slated to meet third seed Li Yunze of China.
