Two in the fight for No. 2

Looking positive: Soong Joo Ven and Liew Daren (above) have been invited to join BAM’s motivation camp in Tioman Island from Sept 3-6.

PETALING JAYA: All things point to a close tussle between independent shuttlers Soong Joo Ven and Liew Daren for the second men’s singles slot behind Lee Zii Jia in the Thomas Cup Finals in Aarhus, Denmark, from Oct 3-11. Both Joo Ven and Daren have been invited to join Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) motivation camp in Tioman Island from Sept 3-6, which is a strong indication that the duo are in the running for the Finals.

The other four singles players heading to the island are Zii Jia, Cheam June Wei, Leong Jun Hao and Ng Tze Yong.
