June Wei crashes out but Tze Yong ‘Czechs’ into semis


PETALING JAYA: Favourite Cheam June Wei’s challenge fizzled out but Ng Tze Yong marched on in the Czech Open.

Second seed June Wei went down 21-19, 15-21, 17-21 to eighth seed Siril Verma of India in the men’s singles quarter-finals of the seventh-tier tournament in Brno yesterday. Siril had also defeated Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin 21-13, 21-15 in the first round on Wednesday.
