PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie scored a first when they stunned Olympic Games bronze medal winners Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino of Japan to enter the Denmark Open semi-finals.

The independent shuttlers pulled off a fantastic 21-18, 21-14 win to beat the Japanese pair for the first time in five attempts.

They will face the winners of the match between reigning world champions Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China and Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue of France in the semi-finals next.

Shevon was thrilled over the win.

"I'm crazy happy right now," said Shevon.

"There is so much of emotions going through right now. We played our best but at the same time, I think the Japanese pair were not themselves. They seemed far from their best.

"We reached the semi-finals in the 2017 Denmark Open edition, hopefully, we can keep this good feeling going."
