Not meant to be: It was Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik’s ninth defeat in 11 meetings against Indonesia’s Marcus Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya at the Denmark Open semi-finals yesterday.

PETALING JAYA: World champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik were brought down to earth after they were eliminated in the Denmark Open semi-finals.

The world No. 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were hoping to win their first Open title, went down 17-21, 21-13, 17-21 in one hour and 15 minutes to Marcus Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya of Indonesia in a fast-paced match in Odense yesterday.
