Zii Jia and Azizul in the Road to Gold programme

PETALING JAYA: 15 athletes from badminton, cycling and diving makes up the list for the Road to Gold (RTG) high performance training programme.

Leading the list announced by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh in Putrajaya yesterday is Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Azizulhasni Awang and his fellow training mate Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom for track cycling.

Independent singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia and also reigning badminton world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, the bronze medallists from Tokyo Olympics are also in the list.

Badminton have the biggest number of athletes with Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi (men's doubles), Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah (women's doubles), Tan Kian Ming-Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles) and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie (mixed doubles) also in the list.

Two-time Olympic medal winner Pandalela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri are the two divers in the RTG programme.

The RTG is a programme to prepare athletes for the Paris Olympics and beyond.
