Hang Yee-Eng Cheong settle for second best at China International Challenge

PETALING JAYA: Independent men’s doubles pair Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong let slip a golden opportunity to win their third title of the year.

The world No. 87-ranked Hang Yee-Eng Cheong fought hard but could not prevent home pair and world No. 575 Chen Xujun-Peng Jianqin from winning 21-19, 19-21, 21-14 in the China International Challenge final at the Binjiang Gymnasium in Hangzhou yesterday.

Despite going down to a lower-ranked pair and having to settle for silver, Hang Yee-Eng Cheong can still walk tall as this was their fourth consecutive final appearance after winning the Slovenia and Austrian Open before finishing runners-up in the Maldives International Challenge earlier this month.

It was a promising start for Hang Yee-Eng Cheong, who just formed their partnership this year after the former left the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) at the end of last year.

Hang Yee-Eng Cheong will now turn their attention to the Mongolian International Challenge at the Mongolian Football Federation Futsal Arena in Ulaanbaatar starting today.

Hang Yee-Eng Cheong enjoy a bye in the first round.
