PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani made a successful comeback when they won the US Open badminton championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin, the third seeds, thrashed Lee Fang-chih-Lee Fang-jen of Taiwan 21-9, 21-10 in a 30-minute affair in the final on Sunday (July 16).

The US Open was the first tournament the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) pair participated in since the India Open in January.

A lack of results and personal differences had forced the pair to go their separate ways in February.

Izzuddin started partnering Haikal Nazri while Sze Wei was paired off with Goh Boon Sze.

It only lasted about two months as Sze Fei-Izzuddin patched up and resumed their partnership last month.

The US Open is also their second title on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) world tour after their German Open victory in 2022.
