PETALING JAYA: Ng Tze Yong stunned India's recent World Championships bronze medallist HS Prannoy 21-12, 13-21, 21-18 to move into the second round of the China Open at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou on Tuesday (Sept 5).

The national men's singles shuttler fought brilliantly to pull off the huge win over the Indian world No. 6 in 66 minutes in what was the duo's first meeting in international competitions.

World No. 22 Tze Yong will next face Indonesia's world No. 45 Shesar Hiren for a place in the quarter-finals.

Shesar, who was promoted from the reserves, overcame Prannoy's compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat 21-13, 26-24 in another first-round match.
