Rexy is the boss now

New supremo Rexy Mainaky.

PETALING JAYA: Rexy Mainaky has been promoted as the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) national director of coaching.

Former Indonesian legend Rexy, who was the overseer for the doubles (senior and junior), has now been named as the supremo as he will manage all of the departments in the national team.

Previously, singles was under Wong Choong Hann, who has now gone to Hong Kong to coach the men's singles team.

Rexy has started his role with immediate effect and his first assignment is the ongoing Asian Games.

BAM's secretary general Datuk Kenny Goh confirmed the news.

"I believe this is the best decision because Rexy has the experience of being the coaching director of Indonesia and Thailand, and we all know that he is one of the legends in this sport," said Kenny, after attending the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between New Vision Badminton Academy (NVBA) and Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) at the NVBA in Petaling Jaya on Monday.
