PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and women’s pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah have suffered early blows in the ongoing Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland.

Aaron-Wooi Yik fell in the first round on Wednesday (Oct 11) when they were beaten 21-11, 21-18 by compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Tee Kai Wun in a first round match that lasted just 26 minutes.

Pearly-Thinaah had received a walkover from India’s Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand in the first round but it was the Malaysians' turn to do the same in the second round.

A muscle strain to Pearly had forced the Malaysian pair out of the Arctic Open where they were supposed to play Taiwan pair Lee Chia-hsin-Teng Chun-hsun on Thursday. (Oct 12)
