Aaron-Wooi Yik, Wei Chong-Kai Wun reach China Masters second round

PETALING JAYA: National men's doubles pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun are safely through to the second round of the China Masters.

World No. 2 Aaron-Wooi Yik defeated fellow Malaysians and world No. 11 Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi 21-15, 21-15 in the first round at the Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium on Tuesday (Nov 21).

Aaron-Wooi Yik will next take on either recently-crowned Japan Masters champions He Jiting-Ren Xiangyu or another Chinese pair, Tan Qiang-Zhou Houdong in the second round on Thursday (Nov 23).

Meanwhile, Wei Chong-Kai Wun fought hard to beat South Korea's Jin Yong-Na Sung-seung 21-11, 15-21, 21-17 to set up a meeting with either homesters Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi or Indonesia's Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana.

It was the end of the road though for Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin went down fighting 23-21, 22-24, 19-21 to Japan's Akira Koga-Taichi Saito while Tang Jie-Ee Wei lost out 18-21, 18-21 to Indonesia's Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas.
