Badminton: Malaysia to face Taiwan in Asia Team Championships men’s team event


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will face Taiwan in the men's team event group stages in the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) from Feb 13-18 in Setia Alam.

Based on the draw conducted on Tuesday (Jan 30), Malaysia and Taiwan have been drawn in Group B, along with Kazakhstan and Brunei.

The players selected in the team are Lee Zii Jia, Ng Tze Yong, Leong Jun Hao, Eogene Ewe (singles); Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, Goh Sze Fei, Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, Choong Hon Jian and Mohd Haikal Nazri (doubles).

In the women's team event, Malaysia will face Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Group Y.

Goh Jin Wei, K. Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Siti Nurshuhaini Azman (singles); Pearly Tan, M. Thinaah, Go Pei Kee, Low Yeen Yuan, Teoh Mei Xing and Lee Xin Jie (doubles) have been included in the team.

The men's team captured the title in the last edition in 2022 in the same venue, while the women's team reached the semi-finals.
