Aaron-Wooi Yik through to second round of French Open


PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik reached the second round of the French Open in Paris on Tuesday (March 5).

In the opening round, Aaron-Wooi Yik and Germany's Mark Lamsfuss-Marvin Seidel were tied 12-12 in the first game when Lamsfuss was forced to retire after picking up an injury.

The world No. 5 pair will next take on Taiwan's world No. 24 Lee Fang-chih-Lee Fang-jen on Thursday (March 7) for a place in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie's campaign ended early after they lost 19-21, 16-21 to homesters Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue.

In the women's singles, Goh Jin Wei also bowed out after going down 10-21, 14-21 to China's Wang Zhiyi.
