Aaron-Wooi Yik, Kian Meng-Pei Jing reach All-England second round

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and mixed doubles pair Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing booked their spots in the second round of the All-England on Tuesday (March 12).

Aaron-Wooi Yik beat teammates Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani 21-19, 21-17 in the opening round at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

The pair will next play Taiwan's Chang Ko-chi-Po Li-wei for a place in the quarter-finals.

It was all over though for independent pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi after they went down fighting 21-15, 21-23, 14-21 to China's world No. 8 Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi.

Meanwhile, world No. 25 Kian Meng-Pei Jing came from behind to stun world No. 13 Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue of France 12-21, 21-19, 21-14 in their first round match.

Kian Meng-Pei Jing will next face either Hong Kong's world No. 8 Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet or Indonesia's world No. 16 Rehan Naufal-Lisa Ayu.
