Pearly-Thinaah, Soon Huat-Shevon clear All-England first round hurdles

PETALING JAYA: Women's doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah and mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie advanced to the second round of the All-England on Tuesday (March 12).

Pearly-Thinaah ousted fellow Malaysians Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien 21-10, 21-10 in their opening match at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

The world No.15 pair is likely to face a tough task next against China's world No. 1 Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan on Thursday (March 14).

Meanwhile, Soon Huat-Shevon narrowly defeated Taiwan's Chang Ko-chi-Lee Chih-chen 21-17, 26-24 in the first round.

The independent pair could next meet China's French Open champions, Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping, for a place in the last eight.
