PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei toppled Thailand's 2021 to move into the second round of the All-England.

World No. 9 Tang Jie-Ee Wei fought brilliantly to upstage the world No. 6 Thais 21-14, 12-21, 21-15 at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday (March 13).

It was only Tang Jie-Ee Wei's second win over Dechapol-Sapsiree in their past seven meetings in international competitions.

It was also the first time that the former managed to beat a pair ranked higher than them in the world rankings this year.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will next play either Netherlands' world No. 15 Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek or Denmark's world No. 22 Mathias Thyrri-Amalie Magelund in the second round.
