CHENGDU: Women’s doubles pair Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee (pic) are set to be combined permanently after impressing against Taiwan in the Uber Cup Finals.
The scratch pair gave the team the solitary point in the tie after toppling world No. 24 Hsu Ya-ching-Lin Wan-ching 21-19, 21-17.
Mei Xing’s partner before this, Anna Cheong has been struggling to stay fully fit since undergoing surgery to repair an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in her knee in 2022 while Pei Kee has been tried with different partners with little success.
“We have decided to partner Mei Xing and Pei Kee permanently after their performance in the team meet,” said national coaching director Rexy Mainaky.
“Young pair Tan Zhing Yi-Ho Lo Ee have also showed that they have potential.
“We have several other youngsters in the doubles team like Chan Wen Tse and Carmen Ting, who are promising but they need time to develop into top players.”
Mei Xing-Pei Kee are currently the second ranked pair behind Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah.
