Gung-ho debutants Tang Jie-Ee Wei confirm place in Olympics quarter-finals

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei have booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics after beating Vinson Chiu-Jennie Gai of United States 21-15, 24-22 in their second Group D match.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei had to save two game points from 18-20 down against the Americans in the second game before coming away with their second win in the group at Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle on Sunday (July 28).

The world No. 9 are now assured of a spot in the last eight after also beating Singapore's Terry Hee-Jessica Tan in their opening match a day earlier.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will next go up against China's world No. 2 Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping on Monday (July 29) to determine the group winners.
