KUCHING: Men’s singles shuttler Justin Hoh justified his top seed status by capturing gold in the Malaysia Games (Sukma).

Justin, who was representing Federal Territories, defeated second seeded national teammate Ong Zhen Yi from Penang 21-16, 21-15 in the final in Sibu on Sunday (Aug 24).

It was the 20-year-old’s first gold in what will be his last Sukma.

In the women’s singles, Sarawak’s Wong Ling Ching gave the home fans something to cheer about after beating Penang’s Oo Shan Zi 21-12, 21-15 to win the title.

In the men’s doubles, Selangor’s youngsters Mohd Faiq Masawi-Lok Hong Quan stunned top seeds Beh Chun Meng-Goh Boon Zhe from Penang 19-21, 21-19, 21-15 to win the gold.

In the women's doubles, Johor's Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu won the gold after overcoming Perak's Chong Jie Yu-Vannee Gobi 19-21, 21-19, 21-12.

Melaka’s Aaron Tai-Nuraqilah Maisarah Ramdan then beat Penang’s Tan Wei Liang-Khor Jing Wen 21-17, 21-16 in the mixed doubles final.
