Tang Jie-Ee Wei deliver Merdeka gift by capturing Korean Open title

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei gave the country a wonderful National Day gift by claiming the Korean Open title.

A day after National Day, Tang Jie-Ee Wei fought brilliantly to come from behind to beat China's Guo Xinwa-Li Qian 17-21, 21-13, 21-13 in a thrilling final in Mokpo on Sunday (Sept 1).

It was the world No. 9 pair's first World Tour Super 500 title after previously capturing two Super 300 titles last year - the Orleans Masters and Taiwan Open.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei also succeeded in their third attempt this year after finishing runners-up twice in the Super 300 Thailand Masters in January and Swiss Open in March.
