PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani’s professional career will be financially supported by Victor.

World No. 12 Sze Fei-Izzuddin officially started their new journey as an independent pair yesterday after deciding to part ways with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

Victor made the announcement welcoming Sze Fei-Izzuddin into their team in their social media pages.

They are an addition to the family as Victor had been one of the main sponsors for Lee Zii Jia.

“Welcome to the Victor family, Sze Fei and Izzuddin. We are thrilled to announce that the Malaysian men’s doubles pair are now part of Team Victor,” Victor stated.

“With a career high ranking of No. 9, the duo have delivered impressive performances this season, including a silver medal at the Asian Championships, a key comeback victory at the Thomas Cup and the World Tour Super 750 Japan Open title last week.

“Can’t wait to see you with Victor gear on the court.”

Sze Fei-Izzuddin reached their best ranking of No. 9 in 2022 and are out to break into the top 10 again with the backing of their new sponsor.

They have shown good improvement this year after reuniting in June last year following a brief split.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin ended their careers in BAM in style by capturing their biggest title so far in the Japan Open last week.

The duo also finished runners-up in the Asian Championships in April and played an important role in the team’s bronze medal win in the Thomas Cup Finals in Chengdu in May.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin have also established themselves as the No. 2 men’s doubles pair in the country behind world No. 3 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.

The other Malaysian pairs currently in the world’s top 20 are Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun (No. 16) and Mohd Haikal Nazri-Choong Hon Jian (No. 19).

Their next assignment is the Hong Kong Open from Sept 10-15 followed by the China Open from Sept 17-22.

Meanwhile, the pair expressed their gratitude to BAM for helping them become a top pair.

“We are grateful for the opportunities BAM provided. We had a lot of good memories,” said Izzuddin.

“We now need to focus on our careers as a professional pair.”
