Aaron-Wooi Yik to miss China Open due to injury

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik suffered a blow after the latter was ruled out of the China Open from Sept 17-22 in Changzhou due to his toe injury.

Wooi Yik fractured his toe during the semi-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics against China's world No. 1 Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang last month and was hoping to return in the World Tour Super 1000 tourney but has not recovered fully yet.

The pair's name was not listed in the draw for the tournament.

World No. 5 Aaron-Wooi Yik finished runners-up in the China Open last year and could lose significant ranking points by not competing this time.

They also skipped the Hong Kong Open which began on Tuesday (Sept 10) and ends this Sunday (Sept 15).
