PETALING JAYA: Former men's doubles world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik were unable to raise their game and exited from the Arctic Open on Thursday (Oct 10).

They lost 13-21, 8-21 to Ben Lane-Sean Vardy of England in the second round at Vantaa, Finland.

It was apparent that Wooi Yik, who had recovered from his toe injury, was still not his best.

The men's doubles challenge will be carried by Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin face Indonesians Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto while Wei Chong-Kai Wun take on top seeds Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang of China next.

In the women's doubles, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah meet Chang Ching-hui-Yang Ching-tun of Taiwan for a place in the semis. They had beaten Kirsten de Witt (Holland) and Mariia Stoliarenko of Ukraine 21-10, 21-11.
