PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani are Arctic Open men's doubles champions.

The pair defeated Denmark's world No. 2 and defending champions Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 15-21, 21-15, 21-19 in an intense match that lasted one hour, 12 minutes at the Energia Arena in Vantaa, Finland on Sunday (Oct 13).

The Malaysians have won two of the previous eight encounters with the Danish duo, with their previous win coming at the 2022 French Open.

The Arctic Open was the Malaysians’ third final appearance of the year, having previously won the Japan Open in August and China Open last month.

However, women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah came close but could not overpower world No. 2 Chinese pair Liu Shengshu-Tan Ning in another final.

The world No. 7 Malaysians fell 12-21, 17-21 to the top-seeded Chinese pair.

The final in Finland was the Malaysians’ third finals appearance this year, after capturing the Hong Kong Open title and finishing runners-up in the Korean Open in October.
