Early loss will push Goh-Izzuddin to come back stronger

ODENSE: You can see the disappointment on the faces of men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani after losing in the Denmark Open first round.

Their good form on the back of three titles in three months – the Arctic Open (last week), China Open (September) and Japan Open (August) came to an end after losing to 13-21, 13-21 to Thailand’s Kittinupong Kedren-Dechapol Puavanarukroh at the Jyske Bank Arena yesterday.

But they refused to offer any excuses.

“In order to win, we have to be physically and mentally strong and we struggled in these areas in the Denmark Open,” said Izzuddin.

“We know it has been tiring en route to winning the Arctic Open but that’s not an excuse.

“Sze Fei and I will get ready for the Kumamoto Masters next (Nov 12-17) and there are areas that we need to work on.”

Sze Fei chipped in: “The Thais, who are also our good friends, played really well. We could not raise our game today.”
