World junior champs Aaron-Khai Xing off to flying start in M’sia Super 100

PETALING JAYA: World junior badminton champions Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing are on a roll.

Fresh from their Sunday win in the final in Nanchang, China, Aaron-Khai Xing showed no sign of fatigue as they beat Taiwan’s Chiang Chien-wei and Wei Chun-wei 18-21, 21-17, 21-19 in the Malaysia Super 100 at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara yesterday.

“We struggled a bit in yesterday’s game but we tried to fight and win until the end,” said Aaron.

“Our opponents did not play lift yesterday so it was an advantage for us. Because if they could play lifting then they would attack us on court,” said Kai Xing.

“After winning the title in China, it gave us a boost of confidence to perform well yesterday and in our next games,” added Aaron.

Aaron-Khai Xing’s second-round opponents are Taiwan’s Wu Hsuan-yi-Ye Hong-wei.

In the men’s singles, Justin Hoh beat India’s Abhishek Yeligar 22-20,21-14 in the first round.

“Yesterday was my first match of the tournament, so I was just testing the waters first,” said Justin.

“It has been quite long since I played at this court. So now I found my rhythm,” he added.

“I found that my opponent yesterday was a strong player too, hence it motivated me to increase my momentum.

Justin’s second round clash is against Indonesia’s Shesar Hiren.

“I do not want to let down my fighting spirit for this tournament. I hope to get results without putting much pressure on myself,” said the 20-year-old.

“It has been a while since I won a title so I hope this serves as an opportunity for me to go home with one,” he shared.
