ODENSE: Malaysia's top pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik marched into the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open but not after given a tough run by their juniors Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun.

In a superb fast-paced second round match, Aaron-Wooi Yik had to be on their toes from the start to prevail 21-23, 21-17, 21-16 against Wei Chong-Kai Wun at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense on Thursday (Oct 17).

Aaron-Wooi Yik will play Chen Boyang-Liu Yi of China next.

Aaron was full of praises for his younger compatriots.

"Wei Chong and Kai Wun played well and put a lot of pressure of us. It's good to see their determination to win," said Aaron.

"Wooi Yik and I however, are slowly regaining our form. It's still far from our performance at the Olympic Games in Paris but we are getting there."

Aaron-Wooi Yik did well to win a bronze medal in Paris in August.

Said Wooi Yik: "Denmark brings good memories for us. We won our first World Tour title in Denmark last year. We are not thinking far right now, but hope to focus on our game against the Chinese pair next."

The Malaysians have beaten the Chinese pair twice this year at the Malaysian Masters and Arctic Open but will not take them lightly.
