Jun Hao upstages Kodai to book spot in Japan Masters semis


Men's singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao stunned home favourite and world No. 4 Kodai Naraoka to reach the Japan Masters semi-finals.

PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao pulled off a sensational win over home favourite and world No. 4 Kodai Naraoka to reach the Japan Masters semi-finals.

The world No. 31 fought brilliantly to come away with a 21-17, 9-21, 21-16 victory in an exhausting 80-minute match in Kumamoto on Friday (Nov 15).

It was sweet revenge for Jun Hao after losing to Naraoka in the Japan Open in August.

The 25-year-old has made it into the last four of a World Tour Super 500 competition for the first time and he will face Indonesia's world No. 6 Jonatan Christie next.

Jonatan had earlier defeated another Malaysian, world No. 7 Lee Zii Jia 12-21, 21-18, 21-18.
