PETALING JAYA: Wong Tat Meng is happy with his 18-month coaching stint with Lee Zii Jia.

Tat Meng, who took over the post in July last year, will go separate ways at the end of this month. Their last tournament together will be the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, next week.

"The focus was to help Zii Jia rediscover his form and confidence," said Tat Meng.

"It’s especially satisfying to see him not only secure a spot among the world’s top eight heading into the Paris Olympics but also achieve a podium finish with a bronze medal.

"That moment was a testament to his tenacity and drive, and I’m proud to have played a part in it.

He also thanked the fans.

"Your encouragement has always meant so much to Zii Jia and me," said Tat Meng, who is grateful for the lessons he had learnt and excited to move into the next chapter of his coaching career.
