Ex-international Kay Bin confirmed as Zii Jia's new coach


Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has recruited former international Yeoh Kay Bin as his new coach.

PETALING JAYA: Former international Yeoh Kay Bin has been confirmed as men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia's new coach.

Team LZJ announced the appointment of Kay Bin on Wednesday (Dec 25).

"Please welcome Team LZJ's new head coach, Yeoh Kay Bin.

"Kay Bin, a former international for Malaysia brings a wealth of coaching experience both local and abroad.

"He joins the team to continue Zii Jia's progress into the next phase of his career," read Team LZJ's statement via social media.

The 44-year-old Kay Bin replaces Wong Tat Meng, who will leave his position at the end of the year.

.Kay Bin was one of the first batch of players who began training at Badminton Association of Malaysia's (BAM) previous training centre in Taman Maluri and was one of the top men singles players during the pre-era of Lee Chong Wei.

He was from the same batch with the likes of James Chua, Lee Tsuen Seng and Sairul Amar Ayob.

Kay Bin was the world junior runners-up at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Melbourne and won the bronze at the 2007 Asian Championships in Johor Baru.

He became a respected coach at the New Vision Badminton Academy and had a coaching stint under Li Mao in China after retiring as a player.
