Indonesia's Herry IP among candidates for next national doubles coach

PETALING JAYA: Indonesian badminton legend Herry Iman Pierngadi, better known as Herry IP, could be the top choice to take over the national men's doubles coaching position.

National coaching director Rexy Mainaky said Herry IP's name was among the mix of candidates to fill the role to replace Tan Bin Shen, who will leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) after the Malaysian Open next week.

He said BAM would make the final decision on the new coach, but Herry IP's credentials speak for themselves as Rexy had trained under him during his time as a player.

Besides Herry IP, Rexy revealed that he had contacted former national players Yap Kim Hock, Tan Boon Heong, Koo Kien Keat and Lee Wan Wah, but they declined the offer due to other commitments.
