BUKIT JALIL: Independent mixed doubles pair Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing ended their last Malaysian Open campaign on a disappointing note after crashing out in the first round at the Axiata Arena today (Jan 7).

World No. 19 Kian Meng-Pei Jing went down 20-22, 10-21 to Japan’s world No. 14 Hiroki Midorikawa-Natsu Saito.

With the defeat, they failed to break their losing streak, extending their poor head-to-head record to 0-3.

This will be Kian Meng-Pei Jing’s final Malaysian Open as a pair, as the former is planning to retire after competing in the All England in March.
