KUALA LUMPUR: Professional doubles coach Teo Kok Siang is tipped to rejoin the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as the men's doubles head coach.
It is learnt that Kok Siang is the local candidate that was speculated to be shortlisted along with experienced Indonesian coach Herry Iman Pierngadi for the post.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) council who will meet on Saturday (Jan 11) are expected to announce Bin Shen's replacement. Bin Shen will leave to Hong Kong after the ongoing Malaysian Open at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.
At 35, Kok Siang is no stranger to BAM, having served as a coach with the association for five years from 2017.
He later chose to leave BAM and took on the role of coaching professional doubles players based in Sri Petaling.
Among Kok Siang's notable achievements with the professional doubles squad was guiding mixed doubles pair Shevon Lai Jamie -Goh Soon Huat to successfully defend their Swiss Open title and clinch the Malaysian Masters last year.
Additionally, he also stepped in to oversee the men's doubles pair, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin, following their coach Rosman Razak's move to BAM in November.
