Adania breaks Emily’s heart to win singles title in Asian juniors

PETALING JAYA: Bowler Adania Mohd Redzwan blazed the lanes to win the girls’ singles event at the Asian Junior Championship.

The 18-year-old rolled down 1,327 pins at the Singapore Bowling Rifle Range yesterday to leave her next opponent by 84 pins.

Australian Emily Hart finished second with 1,243 while another Malaysian Lavinia Kho Jia Jie completed the podium by amassing 1,223.

Adania wants to stay on a roll.

“Winning today feels absolutely incredible! It’s a mix of excitement, pride, and gratitude. All the hard work has paid off. Thank you everyone for the never-ending support,” said Adania.

“The lane conditions were challenging but I adapted well. My opponents were strong and gave me tough competition, which pushed me to perform at my best.

“This win gives me a huge boost of confidence ahead of the doubles and team events.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ category, no Malaysians were in the top ten with Danial Abu Samah ending up as the best finisher with 1,236 pins at 17th spot.

Singapore’s Aiman Lim took the gold with 1,373 while Qatar’s Bader Al-Sada took silver (1,366) and Japan’s Daiya Saito won bronze (1,297).

Team manager Maradona Chok was delighted with the success of the girls.

“This is a superb start for us with a gold and bronze from the girls,” he said.

In the last edition in 2022, Malaysia finished third in the overall medal tally with a medal haul of 1-3-2 in Bangkok, Thailand.
