National bowler Esther rolls down first pro title in US

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian bowlers are on a roll in the United States.

On Sunday, Esther Cheah stole the limelight when she bagged her first Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) title by emerging as the champion in the Oklahoma Regional Tour.

The 38-year old beat Raina Davis, a member of the Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah bowling team, 239-216 in the stepladder finals.

She earned US$1,600 (RM7,477) and an automatic spot for the matchplay in the PWBA Regional Showdown from Dec 5-7 at Aloma Bowl in Winter Park, Florida.

It's a superb comeback win for Esther, who had to go through a knee surgery in 2022.

Esther has been travelling and competing alongside fellow Malaysian, Sin Li Jane, who recently was crowned as the US Women’s Open champion, on the PWBA National Tour this season.

Li Jane had also won the Greater Nashville Classic on May 31 and Journal Rockford Open on May 11.
