PETALING JAYA: Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom, the last man standing in Paris, continued his charge by reaching the semi-finals of the men's keirin competition at the Saint-Quentinen-Yvelines Velodrome on Sunday.
The Birmingham Commonwealth Games bronze medal winner was boxed in but managed to keep pace with the frontrunners to come in third behind Australia's Matthew Glaetzer and Britain's Jack Carlin.
It's certainly a moment to cherish for Shah Firdaus as he managed to get ahead of Asian Games double champion Ota Kaiya of Japan, who also made it to the semi-finals.
The top four from the quarter-final heat goes through to the semis. In the semis, only the top three finishers will continue on to the final taking place later.
Holland's top cyclist Jeffrey Hoogland and reigning keirin world champion Kevin Quintero of Colombia missed out on the semi-finals after they finished fifth and sixth in another heat.
