PETALING JAYA: Netizens were quick to express their opinion and give support to cyclist Azizulhasni Awang after he was disqualified from his first round heat in the Paris Olympics keirin event on Saturday (Aug 10).

Azizul was adjudged to have sprinted before the derny left the track and was immediately disqualified.

"Hope OCM raise official protest to the organiser. It is clear that the French cyclist block Azizul and perhaps the pacer also involved in this conspiracy by slowing down than the usual speed to make life difficult for Azizul," commented Mohd Azhar Zain.

"He's still the pride of all Malaysians. Keep it up, abang Azizul," said Cecilia Chin.

"Our hero, he has won so many tournaments, he has made other competitors scared of him. Thank you, Azizulhasni. We are proud of you," said Luffy Luffy.

"We all learn and memorise rules in driving schools but sometimes make mistakes on the roads. But mistakes in Olympics are more costly than traffic summons," commented Hassan Musa.

"Yes, it's his fault but that's a very harsh decision to disqualify him straight away. Disappointed with the officials," said Afiq Zamanhuri.

"To err is human, hope everyone can stop spreading negative comments and words, Datuk Azizul always be our hero," said William Ng.

"Be patient, Datuk. It's not the end of the world for you, really. Perhaps it's a sign for you to continue this career till LA2028? Have a good rest, Datuk," commented Hazrik Ahmad.

"Everyone is subject to the same standards. Cannot expect special treatment for Malaysian athletes. That will set an unnecessary precedent," said Suhaimy Kamaruddin.
