Five Malaysian riders miss Le Tour de Langkawi cut-off time


BENTONG: Five Malaysian riders missed the cut-off time at Stage 4 of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) on Wednesday (October 2).

Three of the five riders are Hariff Saleh of the Terengganu Cycling Team, Zulhelmi Zainal from Nusantara) and Malaysia National Team member Abdul Azim Alias.

The other two who failed to cross the finish line in Bentong in time after riding 131.2km from Kuala Kubu Baru are Malaysia Pro Cycling riders Mohd Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil and Fahmi Khairul

Malaysia National Team are down to four riders after Elmi Jumari’s crash at Stage 2’s finish line in Butterworth saw the rider break two fingers and his collarbone, sending him to the hospital where he has since undergone surgery and dropping him out of the race.

Besides the five Malaysians, 14 other riders also finished after the deadline, including defending champion Simon Carr, who won’t be part of the race as it continues for Stage 5 from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka on Thursday (October 3).
